"Pathway of the Elder's"- Quilt Show and Supper

From the beginning, our people have pieced together any available resources to maintain identity. Quilting was one of many crafting techniques that Native Americans borrowed from European traditions and adapted into something unique to our culture. Waccamaw Siouan quilts carry a rich cultural tradition for the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe. The need to survive through barter and public works was probably the bridge that brought quilting to our tribe- a craft that meshed easily with women's work to provide bedding and domestic items for family use.

It is with pride of our heritage and culture that the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe presents "Pathway of the Elder's-Quilt Show and Supper. Through this avenue we hope to share our rich cultural history with others.
